Frequently Asked Questions.
Most cycle-tracking apps predict ovulation based on a one-size-fits-all model — it’s commonly thought that ovulation happens on day 14 of a standard 28 day-cycle.
However, for majority of people with ovaries, that’s not the case3. In fact, one study found that the probability of correctly identifying a woman's ovulation day using cycle-tracking apps was as low as 21%1.
Indicate the time of day & start date of tracking from the day your period has ended.
For example, if you’ve started tracking after the 2nd day from when your period has ended, label it like this: 2nd day – 7am.
Ovulation is the release of a mature egg from the ovary during the menstrual cycle, making it possible for fertilization to occur. This marks the most fertile period for people with a vagina who are trying to conceive.
Ovulation is a one-day event that lasts roughly around 12-24 hours. It takes place within your fertile window, which includes the 5-6 days leading up to ovulation.
Absolutely! We understand that life can get busy, and missing a day or two of tracking won't affect your report’s accuracy much.
However, the more data you include, the more precise your report will be. If it’s possible, track as often as you can — ideally, you should do the test every day for 20 days — to maximize the insights our experts offer.
Of course! Even though ovulation tracking for people with irregular periods require more time and patience, it can still help you stay on track to a positive pregnancy test.
If you experience irregular periods, we recommend tracking your ovulation for 3 months or more to establish a more precise range of your fertile period.
If you’d like to learn more, read our guide about irregular periods and pregnancy.
Definitely! If you have a longer cycle — for example, your period comes once every 2 months — you may need a longer tracking duration than the standard 20 days.
Not to worry, though. Simply leave a remark at the checkout page that you have a longer cycle. We'll then provide you with the personalized assistance you need.
Meanwhile, if your period happens once every month, Ovulation Reading is suitable for you and ready to support you on your conception journey.
Testing with the first pee of the day in the morning is highly recommended because it tends to have a higher concentration of hormones. This includes luteinizing hormone (LH), which plays a crucial role in ovulation. A higher hormonal load enhances our test kits' accuracy, providing you with more reliable results.
Missing the first pee of the day can slightly impact the accuracy of your ovulation tracking results.
However, not all is lost! You can still test later in the day, preferably after holding your urine for at least 4 hours. Do note that the LH surge leading to ovulation can vary throughout the day, so morning tests remain the optimal time for accurate results.
While the first morning pee is preferred for its higher hormonal load, we understand that it may not always be possible or convenient for everyone.
In such cases, we recommend the evening pee (the last pee right before sleep) as an alternative. This is to maintain consistency by using the ovulation strip at a fixed timing of day for a more accurate comparison and analysis.
We recommend starting ovulation testing when you have stopped bleeding completely from your period. This ensures that your hormone surge is captured within the 20-day tracking period.
Do note that your tracking start date should be no later than 6 days after your bleeding ends.
It’s best to store the Ovulation Strip Organizer in a cool and dry place. For hygiene purposes, you can consider putting the Organizer in a ziplock bag before storing it.
Do note that medications containing hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) or LH (luteinizing hormone) may affect your test result. The test will not work properly during pregnancy, menopause, or on birth control.
Test results should not be affected by pain relievers, antibiotics, or any other common drugs. Please check with a licensed healthcare professional if you have any doubts.
